The internship tracker I used

How I tracked 100+ applications in a spreadsheet — company, status, follow-ups, and what finally led to my Uber offer.

Intern to Impact guide

Why track everything

When you’re applying from November through May, you will forget who you emailed, who ghosted, and who needs a follow-up. A simple tracker is your second brain.

Columns to use

ColumnWhat to log

Follow-upDate to check in again
NotesWhat went well, what to improve

What I learned

  • The first 50 applications taught me less than the last 50 — I improved my resume and outreach each round.
  • Follow-ups matter — polite, brief, not pushy.
  • One offer (Uber) came after months of reps — not because the first try failed, but because I kept going.

Start small

Apply consistently. Track honestly. Adjust weekly.
